The “Wits’ End EP” is Karl Vincent Roth’s first official release of his own music. Roth had written and recorded music for years, but never released it. His longtime friend and bandmate, Andrew McManus, pushed Roth to finally go through with releasing an EP. So Roth decided to go through with it, and planned for a release in late 2019. But first, he made the EP—entirely by himself.

Roth singlehandedly recorded every part on every instrument, sung every lyric, mixed every song, and mastered the entire album on his own.

While this EP stands as a testament to Roth’s many talents as a musician/producer, it also shines a light on Roth’s artistry as a singer/songwriter. The EP is a rich, folk-scape of stacked strings, textured percussion and layered vocals. With this body of work, Roth succeeds in remaining vulnerable in his songwriting, while staying confident in his abilities as a producer, musician, and singer.

“It’s truly a body of work worthy of the time it took to make it, both in the recording studio and long before it’s conception.” -Karl Vincent Roth

The “Wits’ End EP” is just the beginning. Listen below!

Never-released music

While the “Wits’ End EP” might’ve been Roth’s first official release, he’s been writing and recording his own music for quite sometime now. All of these songs (with the exception of two covers) are original songs where Roth wrote, performed, recorded, and mixed them himself.

DJ Throwback

There was a time when Roth cut his teeth as a professional DJ in Chicago. Here are some original productions/mashups under the alias “Simple Minded Exploits” that come from those good ol’ days. This collection showcases Roth’s ability to play in other genres and still find his own voice.

Compositions

Roth also spends his time composing works inspired by his favorite classical composers. With a dream of one day scoring for film, composing is another of Roth’s many talents—and something he hopes to bring to his clients in need of instrumental arrangements.
